And she wonders

She had planned it all out, all at the age of 13-it had to be Commerce, arts was for the not-so-clever and science was for the geeky. It had to be south mumbai-that was where the good crowd was, and it was the place to be.
She did just that.

During college, it had to be BMS-cause that was the course which gave the practical aspect, and post that it had to be a job-MNC only.
She did just that.

M.B.A was a must-for the people one meets, for the learning, for the paycheck, for the pride. The job that followed had to be front office-MNC only.
She did just that.

She had determined-she would work hard, she would be liked, she would slog, and she would rise.
And she met him. And it all shattered.

She saw someone who lived for a desire, for a dream. There was no routine, no assured return, no concrete plans. The job was not a chore and the existence was not a question mark. It was effortless, natural drive and through inner vision. Work was love, and life was fulfilled.
He lived his passion.

And she wondered-could she ever just quit to follow a dream? what courage it would take to pursue a desire? Give it all up-all the years she had planned for-just to follow an instinct?

Would she ever be able to live her passion?

1. truly amazed at the skill of what to reveal and what to conceal. You have wonderfully managed to control your thoughts.

2. well as far as the content and its intent goes :-) i think my quote on kanishka's blog should be borne in mind every day of our subsistence.

"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Time to choose the right direction

Though we read and believe that choices are always ours and the results from the choices are ours too... I have come to belive that its is not true..
Often others influence the way we think and choose.
If you want to soar the skies, you have to choose to be with an eagle.. being with the peacock.. does not get you too high !!..
But is it the "desires and dream" that really inspire you to be with the eagle, or is it the beauty and serenity of the peacock which is better..
Choose well is all I would say..
Like Rashi said (I hope she does not mind me qouting)

@Anon: unfortunately you need one to exist and the other to live. So both have their importance in ones life.

@ Kannu: Unforgiven!

@ NN: Easier said than done, dreams often lead us around in circles.Btw I liked the comment u deleted "How can u let things go like tht" lollz

@ Rashi: my elder wiser sis, it takes courage indeed-n i dont think I have the guts. Not right now at least, tad later.

@Parag: True, it is the choice I have made. But its eagle...eagle indeed.

@666: Hmmm i liked the quote a lot, had even commented on Kannu's blog.
What am I concealing according to you? :)

Yes she can, provided she believes.
And a lil bit of insanity would help!

see, its simple..the dude had pnp...i.e. pappa nu paisa...as long as u have pnp u can be hen, peacock, eagle, beagle, steve seagal..with pnp life vich no gul...:)

im toh set in life...looking for snp...sasur nu paisa:D

and i think eagles fly high so their vision radius is larger and probability of spotting food increases...so to draw an analogy, the eagle flying high is just like u doing an mba to get better pay...now that poor eagle must be suffering from vertigo, oxygen deprivation and exhaustion for a snack and may not think it cool to fly high...

btw historians have recently found out that the road less travelled was actually subversive advertising for a toll road owned by Frost (the poet) who was hinting to people to pay him 2 shillings and 'make the difference' to themselves by using his road...

I dont beleive that money & passion contradict each other. Many a Well known industrialist today chased a "dream" driven by "money".."Dreams" can be powerful enough to transform a craven to a craving obsessive goal seeker!!!

She did everything that seemed right...
....to others that is.

Somewhere along the way, forgot to ask herself what she wanted.

A million souls did this and their collective desires have withered away into nothingness, into a daily rumble of trains and crowds and smoke and faceless anger.

It takes guts to do what he did.

She should do whatever SHE wants to do in life. Till today, she has been living her life the way she has envisioned and planned and has been successful at it also. Then why should she stop living her life her own way, just because she has met HIM?? It is better to be yourself than try to be someone else.

Beautifully penned. And it is the right combination of both these mentalities that gets one to succeed . . .

@Dobereinerr:
Lol yeah insanity would help-ill try that out sometime :)

@ Booyah:
Sasur nu paisa it is!

@Seattle Smoke:
Monay and passion not necessarily contradict, but they not necessarily go together either.

@Someone:
Sometimes we just lose ourselves in the herd, and the worlds dream becomes ours.
Btw I really liked tht line "daily rumble of trains and crowds and smoke and faceless anger"-pretty much what I see when I goto work everymorning.

@ Raj
Well its not that she met Him, its more a different lifestyle-maybe something she wants to experience as well.

PS-Thanks for the compliment.

@ Ajay
Thanks Ajay, trying to find a balance-thats the goal.

@ Parag

I believe that only two kinds of people can afford to really follow their dreams....
1. A person who has nothin to lose..in finance terms he has very low oppurtunity cost.
2. A person who can afford to lose a lot...i.e. has his Rich Daddy sitting on a pile of Snow Dust to Back him up if his dream does not work out mid-way.
For the rest of us we shud just view it as the Grass that seems to be Greener...and carry on with our lives.

sometimes you just need to shred the blueprint and dig your fangs into life. if it doesn't kill you, the results can be startling. :0)
